Day 78
OYB - March 19

O my people, trust in him at all times. Pour out your heart to him, for God is our refuge.
Faith is trust, and trust is faith. When a deposit is placed in a trust account, we can be confident that it is safe. Do we trust God like that? It is easy to trust Him when we are in control, but what about when the situation moves outside our control? Can we trust Him at all times? David went through perilous times, but in each situation he would pour out his heart to God (v. 8) as his chief Confidant and Refuge.

Everyone trusts someone or something, and with many, it is their money. "Don't try to get rich by extortion or robbery. And if your wealth increases, don't make it the center of your life" (Psalm 62:10). Paul told Timothy to "tell those who are rich in this world not to be proud and not to trust in their money, which will soon be gone. But their trust should be in the living God, who richly gives us all we need for our enjoyment" (1 Timothy 6:17).

We must unplug our trust from anything in this world: our money, the promises of others, even ourselves. We must then transfer our total trust to God and relax, knowing that our deposit is safe!
Numbers 28:16-29:40

16‘Then on the fourteenth day of the first month shall be the Lords Passover. 17On the fifteenth day of this month shall be a feast, unleavened bread shall be eaten for seven days. 18On the first day shall be a holy convocation; you shall do no laborious work. 19You shall present an offering by fire, a burnt offering to the Lord: two bulls and one ram and seven male lambs one year old, having them without defect. 20For their grain offering, you shall offer fine flour mixed with oil: three-tenths of an ephah for a bull and two-tenths for the ram. 21A tenth of an ephah you shall offer for each of the seven lambs; 22and one male goat for a sin offering to make atonement for you. 23You shall present these besides the burnt offering of the morning, which is for a continual burnt offering. 24After this manner you shall present daily, for seven days, the food of the offering by fire, of a soothing aroma to the Lord; it shall be presented with its drink offering in addition to the continual burnt offering. 25On the seventh day you shall have a holy convocation; you shall do no laborious work.

Psalms 62:1-12

PSALM 62

God Alone a Refuge from Treachery and Oppression.

For the choir director; according to Jeduthun. A Psalm of David.

1My soul waits in silence for God only;

From Him is my salvation.

2He only is my rock and my salvation,

My stronghold; I shall not be greatly shaken.

3How long will you assail a man,

That you may murder him, all of you,

Like a leaning wall, like a tottering fence?

4They have counseled only to thrust him down from his high position;

They delight in falsehood;

They bless with their mouth,

But inwardly they curse. Selah.

5My soul, wait in silence for God only,

For my hope is from Him.

6He only is my rock and my salvation,

My stronghold; I shall not be shaken.

7On God my salvation and my glory rest;

The rock of my strength, my refuge is in God.

8Trust in Him at all times, O people;

Pour out your heart before Him;

God is a refuge for us. Selah.

9Men of low degree are only vanity and men of rank are a lie;

In the balances they go up;

They are together lighter than breath.

10Do not trust in oppression

And do not vainly hope in robbery;

If riches increase, do not set your heart upon them.

11Once God has spoken;

Twice I have heard this:

That power belongs to God;

12And lovingkindness is Yours, O Lord,

For You recompense a man according to his work.

Proverbs 11:18-19

18The wicked earns deceptive wages,

But he who sows righteousness gets a true reward.

19He who is steadfast in righteousness will attain to life,

And he who pursues evil will bring about his own death.
